Shiseido Majolica Majorca Review and Swatches

Today I have to officially announce that I will be going on a no spending budget for a little while. So I probably won’t have much product reviews for a little while for you guys. I need to focus on saving some money for something important and I’m determined to do it this time round.

However today I do I have a review and some swatches for you guys on Shiseido Majolica Marjorca. I do have some other reviews but I’ll leave those for another day. Anyway today I’m going to review 3 eyeshadow palettes and 3 pencils. I’m not sure how familiar some of you guys are with these products. It’s really popular in some Asian countries like Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. Thus these aren’t available everywhere so you may need to buy them online if you ever want to try. I got mine from Hong Kong as a gift from someone last year but I can’t remember from whom again.

I got 3 palettes from their Jeweling Eyes eyeshadow sets in pink (PK785), blue (BL381) and green (GR780). Refer to below for pictures and swatches that I’ve done with and without base to show how well the colours show. I’m sorry for some poor photos, but I’m in the process to looking for a new light and have not yet found the perfect lighting. Please bear with me for the time being and hopefully in the future I’ll have some better photos for you all.

If you’re looking for bright colours then these are definitely not for you. I find that these are quite light and the colours are not intense, but they are super shimmery so be careful when applying. You may end up with shimmer/glitter all over your face. My first impression when I swatched them was the smooth soft texture. It’s not chalky so it doesn’t break easily. It suitable to be used both night and day and if you’re wondering how those doll like looks are created. I heard majority uses shadows like these. They give off a cute impression and I love them because they’re great for daytime use when I want to keep it casual. On days like winter season when makeup doesn’t need to be so intense these are definitely a first choice for me. It’s enough to give you the right amount of colour yet also brighten and enhance your beautiful eyes.

I also got one of their Majolook eyeshadow palettes in the brown shades (BR788). Same texture and the colours are also not intense but they are definitely pigmented and silky smooth so glides on easily when applied to the eyes. The only different between these palettes to the ones above is that this one consists of one cream shadow which is the white one. The cream shadow is very soft and easy to blend when applied. I actually think it might be a pretty good base over a primer before applying the brown shades on top.

Next I own three Jeweling pencils in blue (BL503), red (RD505) and gold (GD807). Definitely easy to use, the tips are soft and creamy so it glides on so easily, however they do smudge easily so because when applying it. I recommend using a shadow of similar shade to set it if you’re using it as eyeliner. I like using these vibrant colours on my lower lashes most the time because it is easy to apply and can be smoothed out with a brush afterward. They are quite short and small so they probably won’t last very long if you use them quite often. They’re slightly smaller than a normal size eyeliner pencil.

Have anyone else used Shiseido Majolica Majorca products before?
If you have what were your experiences like?
Comments are welcome and I would love to hear from you guys on what you think about this post of even the blog in general.

Hoped everyone had a lovely weekend!

EOTD/FOTD & Outfit of the day & new heels

Haven’t updated in a little while, but that long so I guess I’m forgiven?

Been busy at work and by the time I come home and I had dinner and showered, I feel so tired I just want to crawl into bed and sleep. That is exactly the way I did, hence no update for the blog as of recent. However today was a day I go out with two of my favourite girls and it the mid-year sale season so thought we check out what there is on sale? Nothing good so all I ended up buying were a pair of shoes. I’ll share some photos later at the end of this post.

Here is the look of the day, nothing hard and used drugstore products for the eyes.

First off as always do your concealer, foundation and powder as you would. I’ve used LancĂ´me today since the weather was sunny (until a bit later it got a bit gloomy). After that apply whichever eyeshadow base/primer you like. It doesn’t matter which one, the purpose is always to keep the eyeshadow colours vibrant and to stop it from creasing. For me it is a must otherwise I’ll have yucky oily looking creased shadow eyes.

I used Bourjois eyeshadows today, so you can probably get them from your local drugstore.

#48 Vert Petillant (green) – is used for the inner half of the lids
#17 Prune Intense (purple) – is for the outer half of the lids
#92 Gris Paillettes (greyish/black) – for outer corners of the lids, I think some people call that the outer V?
#16 Ambre Nude (champagne) – inner corner of eyes to brighten it up and a little bit on the brow bones.

After that I finished it off with;

Maybelline – Unstoppable eyeliner/traceur (Onyx)
Fairy Drops Mascara (purchased in Hong Kong from Sasa Cosmetics)

For my lips I kept it simple, just a simple light pink colour.

Maybelline – Color Sensational #005 Pink Sand
Noir Blanc – Lipgloss brillant levres #B433 (also purchased in Hong Kong from Sasa Cosmetics)

Outfit of the day was simple; it wasn’t exactly warm enough to be wearing summer clothes. With winter finally hitting Australia, the weather is beginning to get chilly and especially at night! No more short skirts or dresses, it’s time to pull out the warm clothes and of course the boots!

Can’t have winter without boots ladies! Trendy and they keep your feet warm and dry from the pouring rain.

Anyway felt like wearing something purple-ish, so I ended up with a simple magenta/purple kind of coloured dress and some lace leggings. Finished it with a simple grey cardigan and a nice gold belt. Of course I didn’t forget the boots, just simple flat heel boots that I bought last year from Target, for a bargain of only $30. Perfect for a shopping trip that is going to require a lot of walking and shoving through crowds.

my sexy lace leggings!

Forgot to take a photo with my bag so here it is, just a simple Gucci. Nothing extravagant, practical, holds a lot and it’s in a way still classy. Love this bag heaps and it’s the perfect colour for winter!

So as I was saying earlier, there wasn’t much I liked at the sales. I’m surprised myself because normally I buy heaps during times like these just to save money so I don’t have to pay more for something the same or similar to it. Instead all I ended up with was a pair of shoes that was only slightly discounted. However I fell in love with them.

Shoes are by Verali.
Style name is Grand
And they’re black satin in colour.

Look at how it blings!

So classy!

Definitely love!

A Peek at my Vanity and Makeup collection

The most popular topics of all time are sharing one’s vanity set up and makeup collection. Unfortunately I’m not yet one of those who have an awesome yet large amount of makeup. I’m getting there though. Mine is a pretty simple set up, made from the use of an old study table my cousin left behind when he was staying at our house during his couple years of studies. I’m pretty sure it was one of those very cheap IKEA tables you can get but probably not anymore. This was when I was still just a teenage girl.

Instead of wasting it I made use of it, no point in buying a table when you got one right? I mean I would love a great vanity table, but saving money whenever you can is always a good plan. So this is my magic little corner in my litter bedroom. Where I do my hair and makeup every morning for work and where I share my love for makeup with my girlfriends.

Welcome to my Vanity

Let’s start off to the side next to my new IKEA wardrobe. A small set up where most of my jewelleries are stored and the Blue drawers only contains non-cosmetics stuff, so I won’t go into details about them. Those drawers I don’t remember where I got them. They’ve been with me forever and I originally didn’t use them for cosmetics anyway. Nowadays these ones contain my little bits and pieces. My full length mirror is just one of those cheap ones you can pick up at the bargain store. I was supposed to mount it but decided not since now I have an option to move it where and when I want to.

The earring stand is something my mum got me as a gift two years ago when she visited my cousin in Sydney and it was from a shop that was closing down. I’ve seen these earring stands and even better ones on eBay so if you’re looking for them you’ll find some there.

Now this little corner holds all my perfume, hair products and face products. The white stand is from IKEA, a product from their bathroom range which can be used like I do now or mounted onto the wall. Originally I had it sitting on the floor, but it wasn’t so good since I have a little fluff ball that runs around the house, who acts like a princess going where she wants and when she wants. I sat it on the stool for better reach when I sit down in my cheap foldable chair. That mini stool is something you can’t buy. Believe it or not my father made it and its one very strong stool so I love it.

Yet another set of these blue drawers, this one just holds most of my most least used cosmetics or palettes that are too big to be stored anywhere else. IT has some face products and the last two draws are hair accessories. As you can see I have my hair straightener on top and my curling iron behind it as well as a hair dryer in the wicker basket. All handy and in my reach as I bust my little ass along to get ready for work.

Little organiser I picked up at Priceline, I believe they still sell them at the moment but I’m not sure for how long. It holds my curlers, and brushes I don’t used all that frequently. The pink tube was originally something I bought many years ago when I was into making those lucky stars. I just popped the lid off and now I use it to store dirty brushes that need cleaning. I clean my brushes everyday but only washed them once every two weeks.

This little container is pretty handy to me which also something I picked up at Priceline from the same brand as the previous stand. It contains my cotton balls, Q-tips and cotton pads. These are frequently used, thus I keep them on the table all the time.

All my brushes are stabbed into these beads thing in a little stationery organiser container I picked up at Officeworks. A place that sells office supplies, they’re little boxes with sections that can be stacked with small clips. Since I only have one then I used it for my brushes. It was too tall for some of the shorter brushes so seeing some YouTube videos, lots of people were using these flower vase fillers they get from their local craft store. I thought it was a good idea so I did the same only to find we don’t sell those types here so I ended up substituting it with little clear beads. These beads are the ones for filling stuffed toys. Yes you know how some soft toys have some beads in them, well it is the exact same thing and it works just as well. Everything else is pretty standard, plastic cup holding my liners and my Ecotools at he back in their originally bamboo cup. The compartments holding my lipsticks (most frequently used) and mascara are actually lipstick holders. They’re by Revlon and I got these for free at a Pharmacy. The girl at the counter was very nice and she just asked if I wanted any of them, because they had heaps. I ended up taking two because I thought it was cute. They don’t fit all sorts of lipsticks so it was average, but I’m sure they fit all Revlon lipsticks though. I like my mascara within reach rather than have to rummage through the drawer for them.

My mirrors, the small one is a magnifying one on one side and normal on the other which I used mainly for plucking my eyes or applying mascara. The big mirror I’m not sure if any of you seen it before but you can get it at IKEA and it’s cheap!

My newest collection of perfume, missing the red one though so I’ll have to go hunting for it. I think they’re uber cute and the scents are a great combination. They do smell similar but I can’t be bothered figuring out which ones they’re similar with.

Behind my Harajuku lovers perfume is this business card stand from Officeworks. It was a good idea, but unfortunately some single eyeshadows are too fat to fit in them, thus I store my least used shadows there. I probably put them back in the draw and find another use for this stand.

This is two filing drawers stacked together; I purchased them from Officeworks so there is a lot of stuff similar to this one. This is the makeup heaven part of my vanity, where all my stuff is stored. Nothing particularly special so don’t’ expect too much.

The reason why I liked these drawers were because they’re clear at the front and the side. So I know what is in each drawer without having to label them.

Top draw is Foundation and powders.

Second draw is lip products.

Third draw is concealers and primer and makeup base. I think I might switch the lip and this draw around. Not sure yet.

Fourth drawer is solely for my NYX collection which I have shared with you guys earlier already. I don’t really have sections in the drawers; I just try to lay things out neatly.

Fifth drawer contains miscellaneous palettes.

Sixth are also palettes like the Manly 120 and my Cameleon ones that I recently bought from Hong Kong.

Seventh is MAC, Estee Lauder and Clinique as well as my eyeshadow base and Red Earth eye primer.

Eighth draw is drugstore eyeshadows collected over the years.

And lastly the bottom one is makeup wipes and the sponges I use for my foundation application.

Disclaimer: all products shown in photos are all owned by me and i dont' get paid to use or review them.

Mini haul from Priceline

couldn't resist! my new phone. Sony Ericsson X10! i waited a whole week to get this phone.

I’m pretty sure a lot of people now know I never stop buying, it’s a matter of trying to restrain myself and I know that never last very long. Hopefully I will be too busy to be buying anymore stuff for a little while.

However I’m always here to share some new stuff I purchase. This time round may not be the nice expensive stuff, but affordable cosmetics that many uses and are very common. My most recent haul consists of 13 items purchased during a sale at Priceline. That’s right they’re what a lot of people would consider as drugstore products.

I came home with 8 items from Boujoris alone and I can say one thing. I hardly have any of their products. The only one I can think of from the top of my head is a green eyeshadow that I picked up somewhere in the bargain basket. Well these items were all purchased because I think everything was 50% off. There were heaps of people crowding the display of it in Priceline that I had to squeeze in to pick up the random bits. I hate crowds when it comes to testing makeup, so everything was quick and simple. Didn’t want to stay in the crowd too long, who knows maybe I might have picked up more if I did.

First off are 3 of their single eyeshadows and I know for a fact I love their packaging. So cute yet simple and their little applicator is a cutie too even though I never use them. I picked up #17 Prune Intense, #92 Gris Pallettes and #16 Ambre Nude. I’ve changed the ways I do my swatches now, so I hope the way I do them now is more of a use than the way I used to. I do two sets of swatches, one naturally without a base or primer and one with a base or primer. Currently I was using Estee lauder eyeshadow base. I find the base provides another view of how vivid the eyeshadows can show up when applied to the eyes that is primed.

I also picked up a pencil, tho I have to admit I’m not sure how it really works. Effet Smoky #73 Deep green is a gorgeous colour without a doubt (see swatch photo). However is it a liner? It has a brush on the other end supposedly used to give you a smoky effect when you smudge it? I think I’ll have to look it up on how to really use this. I was only planning to use it as a eyeliner, but learning how to smudge and make it looks nice sounds like a good plan for me.

Effect 3D Lip glosses in #61 Rose Acidule and #62 Rose gold was the two colours that appealed to me the most at the time. There were 3 other hands grabbing the glosses while I went for them as well. I was actually quite annoyed that some of the ladies were opening the brand new sale items to test them when visibly there was a tester available only they couldn’t be stuffed waiting for someone else to finish with it. How dirty and rude is that? I had to really grab them quick, the ones that were still sealed. The clean untouched ones were not easy to get a hold of and it is the first time I’ve seen people so rude. No one will buy those opened and used products now; I wonder how much loss they make because of a sale like this. The lip glosses in my point of view were a bit thick, sticky as well but the colours were beautiful. They didn’t really all that bad but didn’t smell very nice either so I don’t’ have a problem with that.

Anyway getting along, I picked up two things in the Clubbing product line of Bourjois. Eye liner in absolute black and mascara volume in absolute black as well. There was no tester for either and so I had to take a risk. Had no clue what the brushes were like and had no idea of the consistency or texture of the products. The liner is all good, the typical liner, but it was definitely very black! However it felt rather wet, so I’m worried it would take longer to dry compared to other liquid liners. The mascara however is the second shock in my most recent purchases. Like last time I was disgusted with the Rimmel 1-2-3 look, this time round is no better! I completely scrunched my face up and I really couldn’t help it at all! The wand was oozing with mascara. A major overload of the product and not something I want to be applying to my lashes. I couldn’t help myself, I did a quick light dab onto my hand and look at how much product was on that wand!

Last Bourjois product was actually a powder brush, well to me it was a kabuki styled brush. Something I needed because I’m supposed to have one but for some odd reasons it decided to disappear. I search high and low and everywhere, but I couldn’t find it so I was a bit upset. Since this one was cheap I thought I just buy one to substitute for now, until I find a better one at a decent price. Very soft bristles and it doesn’t scratch the face so I like using it to powder my face after foundation.

Let’s move on from Bourjois, I’ve done enough review for them for the time being. I bought 2 Australis palettes. Would have bought more if I had the chance but I can’t believe how empty the displays were. People must love this brand because these two were the best ones and they were both the same price. Automatically anyone would think the 4 colours one was more worth it.

Out of the blue is a 3 colour palette and I’m sorry I forgot to do swatches for them. No wonder why I couldn’t find the photo for it. They’re the exact same texture as Choc-a-block, which I did do swatches from. Silky and smooth, is love. Easy to apply and easy to blend. Definitely worth going back for some more.

The last two items I bought was just two brushes by Manicare, from their Artiste Professional collection. They weren’t on sales, I don’t think they ever are and I think it was because no one was crowding around them so I ended up there. #17 stippling brush is really soft, but not very dense so I’m not sure how well it’ll work out. #19 Contour brushes, which is very dense yet the bristle are very soft as well. They did have a smell to it and I think it just the chemical smell so I washed them when I got back home. Now they are disinfected and smell beautiful ready for me to use.

Well that’s the end of the mini haul, hope you guys enjoyed it and hope it helped.
