First ever e.l.f products and an outfit look from Saturday

These e.l.f products are a part of my Crush Cosmetics haul that I got sometime ago. These are also the first ever e.l.f products I own and I was excited because they’re cheap and has some good reviews on some of their products.

I ended up picking up two eyeshadow C brush, two Mineral Eyeshadow Primer and a blush.

Mineral Eyeshadow Primer

Colour: Sheer

Net WT: 0.15 oz / 4.5g

No Parabens, No Preservatives, No Chemical Dyes

“This gentle and completely sheer eyeshadow primer has key vitamins A, C and E to help prevent aging and moisturizes the skin. The formula glides on easily and disappears instantly to create longer-lasting, crease-proof eyeshadow. The mineral Eyeshadow Primer is designed to be used with your favourite Mineral Eyeshadow to provide ultimate staying power for beautiful and vibrant color that lasts.”

I actually tested out the Eyeshadow Primer, so I didn’t just use it once. Even though it is designed for the use of mineral eyeshadow I just use normal everyday eyeshadows that I use and there isn’t a problem. It is sheer and the formula doesn’t show after applying it all over your lids. It comes with a sponge applicator (which I love) and the formula is not too thick either. As cheap as it seems it actually isn’t that bad at all and this primer does well. However I don’t find it brings out the colour of the eyeshadows as well as Too Faced Shadow Insurance (current favourite eye primer) does, but it does work and it did keep my shadows in place and they didn’t crease for a good 8 hour. I have to say if you use primer that frequently then the price of this is obviously more appealing than that of Too Faced, however Too Faced gives a better result when applying eyeshadow over the top. Perhaps if I’m just doing a simple neutral look I would just use this e.l.f primer and when I do more colourful looks I would use the Too Faced one instead.

Studio Eyeshadow ‘C’ Brush

“This Taklon brush can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. studio brush!”

“Creates the perfect smokey eye”

“The medium sized brush gives more control for more specific blending needs”

“Use with any powder eyeshadow product for color blending”

comparing size to my fingers

I bought two Eyeshadow “C” brush because I’ve heard some good reviews about it. It’s a short shading brush and I find the size of it just right. It’s soft and feels pleasant on the eyelids. What I love is that it doesn’t shed, neither of the two had shed one hair yet and I like that a lot. It’s affordable and the quality is good. I now use this brush every morning when I’m doing my eye makeup.

Studio Blush

Colour: Peachy Keen

Net WT: 0.168 oz. / 4.75g

“The soft sheer texture blends into the skin for a silky finish.”

“Designed to be worn alone or layered for more depth.”

“Highlight your complexion with a subtle healthy glow.”

The packaging is nice and it’s not made of soft cheap smelly plastic either. It comes with a small mirror inside the cover so convenient to travel with in your bag. It has a plastic film protectant over the actual blush. The pigmentation is great and the texture is really soft and smooth. It’s affordable and glides onto your face really easily without making it cakey or dry. However it is quite shimmery so it may not suit everyone. I find it leaves a nice glow on my cheeks, especially this colour I had chosen.

Now to finish off the post I thought I share my outfit I wore during Saturday afternoon to meet up with a girlfriend for coffee.  It was a nice warm day so spring clothing starts coming out of the closet.  It is just a simple and very comfortable dress, which I dressed up with a wide waist belt to add some style to it.

Saturday Floral OOTD and Update

I know I haven’t got much going on for my blog lately, that’s because I’ve been a bit busy as I’m looking up information on different beauty schools. That’s right I think I might be going back to studying but makeup artistry this time. I feel I can make a career out of it and I know at least it is something I will enjoy doing.

Anyway I thought I share my outfit of the day, not for today since it is working days now, but what I wore on Saturday to Pasar Malam. I wanted to keep it simple yet I wanted colours and the feel of spring in my. I’m not a fan of floral and believe it or not this dress was bought early last year and I’ve never worn it. It’s pretty bad, I buy clothes that look pretty and then I don’t wear them. I swear I have major shopping issues so I haven’t been buying much since I’ve gotten into action of wearing what I already have. I’ve cleaned out the wardrobe and there were so many stuff in there that still had the tags on them! However I feel better because the majority of my clothes are bought on sale.

This is what I wore on Saturday, something simple yet spring-ish. Nothing fancy and definitely nothing expensive. I thin my shoes were the most expensive out of all the items. I cut my head out of the photo because I took this photo before I did my hair and makeup!

Cardigan: Ally
Floral strapless dress: Target
Black Leggings: Target
Black Wedges: Daphne? from China
Just a closer look of the dress and the floral pattern.
Yes that is my phone and the bag I used that night.
Grey/silver Gemmed Clutch bag: Portman

I’m not one of those skinny girls who have the most perfect curves. I’m considered a bit over average but I think sometime you just have to love the way your body is. You should just wear what you feel comfortable in and not have to worry so much about losing weight constantly. Sure I would love to love some kilos, but it’s not everything in life. If you do ever plan to lose weight though, please don’t starve yourself!

Anyway I’d like to update you guys on things that I have planned for this blog.  Here are two photos of stuff I had stored away ready to be tested, reviewed and swatched.  However I can’t test and review too many things at once.  I tend to like to use a product for a certain time before I give an honest review of what I really think of it.

Pigments from Still Glamorous and mica from CS

Drugstore Products

I also got my September favourites to put up, but I haven’t gotten around to compiling that just yet. One other thing I just finished editing photos for is my list of skincare products that I am currently using. It was one of the suggestions from the giveaway answers that I got from a follower. (Told you guys I actually read and take note of things you guys say)

I also got my NYX Ultra Pearl Mania pigments swatches done for you guys to use as reference. I own all 30 colours so I thought it would be useful for you guys to use if you ever wanted to purchase any from online stores where you can’t test or swatch them yourself. It would probably be an upcoming post, I just got to edit the photos and make them fit on the blog to reduce uploading time and to cut them down. Keep tuned for that if you’re interested.

Quick simple look for family dinner and Bourjois EOTD

Just wanted to drop in quickly and get this post out of the way otherwise I’ll forget about it. I haven’t had time recently do a post so I’m sorry, but I’m here to share two looks.

I was going to post them separately but it’s much easier and faster this way :p

Last night I went out to dinner with the family and it was very last minute. I got home and I was alone so I showered and pulled all that makeup off to let my face refresh. I then got a call not too long after from mum saying they decided to eat out that night and was to meet them in 45 minutes. Geez… not a great deal of time to change, brush my hair and do my makeup at all. The drive was 20 minutes so that really gave me under 30 minutes to do everything and be out of the door. I also had to feed the dog before I leave so it was one hell of a challenge.

I wasn’t stepping out naked face that night either, my face was not looking great so I had to do something really quick. Beside it’s a family dinner so no need to make it look all fancy right.

Here are the products I used for this look:

Face:

The Body Shop Moisturise it skin primer

Eve Pearl Anit-shine Mattifying Gel – A Light/Medium

Revlon New Complexion Foundation – 04 Natural Beige

Coastal Scents Camo Quad – Medium

MSCHIC Powder Blush – Warm Glow (I’m so loving this colour at the moment!)

Lips:

Vaseline – this is the first thing I put on before applying my makeup, I like to keep my lips nice and moist before any lip products is applied. I do wipe it off before apply gloss or lipstick though.

NYX Round Lip Gloss – 28 Whipped

Eyes:

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

NYX Eyeshadow – 155A Ultimatum

NYX Eyeshadow – 80A True Taupe

NYX Eyeshadow – 128 24 Karet

NYX Eyeshadow – 83 Skin

Chi Chi 3D Magic Lash Mascara

L-R: 24 Karet, Skin, True Taupe, Ultimatum
Ultimatum - Lids
True Taupe - Crease
24 Karet - Outer V
Skin - Brow Highlight and Tear ducts

I can’t even believe I had time to take photos, however I was 10 minutes late. Whoops!

Scary! Before any makeup application
Look at those massive dark circles :S
After makeup and hair was done as well as been changed.
What a BIG difference it makes :)
Messy hair still
Really close up of face.  I like it natural looking like this most of the time.
Dark circles are still obvious this close up
Just the eyes
I also took a photo of what I wore.  Not something I do on a regular basis since I’m quite self conscious about my weight and body shape.

Black Dress from Ally
Cardigan from Ally
Watch from Hong Kong, Mong Kok
Leggings from Target
I also realise how awkward my pose is!

The second look is just the eyes and I was in a rush (again). I decided to use some of my Bourjois eyeshadows that I had greatly neglected. Except this time round I applied them wet. Apparently that what they recommended but I’m not a big fan of applying shadows wet at all. However the pigmentation for these eyeshadows DO turn out a lot better. Nothing special for this look, just something neutral with a pop of colour.

Eyes:

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres eyeshadow – 16 Ambre Nude

Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres eyeshadow – 54 Marron Glace

Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres eyeshadow – 92 Gris Paillettes

Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres eyeshadow – 17 Prune Intense

NYX Eyeshadow – 80A True Taupe (I only used to lightly fill in some of my brows)

Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara

MAC Fixed +

L-R: Marron Glace, Gris Paillettes, Prune Intense, Ambre Nude
Marron Glace - Crease and Outer V
Ambre Nude - Lids
Gris Paillettes - Lined upper lash line
Prune Intense - Lower lash line

Some people may be thinking what I used MAC Fixed + on my eyes, well I used this solution to wet my makeup brushes to apply the eyeshadow.  I find that this solution works really well when it comes to applying eyeshadows/pigments wet.  I’m not sure why exactly but I use it normally as a finishing/setting spray so I thought that if this keep things in place then would it do the same with eyeshadows after it dries?  Who knows… it was just something I thought to myself and had been doing that since.

Anyway thanks for following and hopefully soon I’ll post up my first giveaway!

Stay tuned!!!

EOTD/FOTD & Outfit of the day & new heels

Haven’t updated in a little while, but that long so I guess I’m forgiven?

Been busy at work and by the time I come home and I had dinner and showered, I feel so tired I just want to crawl into bed and sleep. That is exactly the way I did, hence no update for the blog as of recent. However today was a day I go out with two of my favourite girls and it the mid-year sale season so thought we check out what there is on sale? Nothing good so all I ended up buying were a pair of shoes. I’ll share some photos later at the end of this post.

Here is the look of the day, nothing hard and used drugstore products for the eyes.

First off as always do your concealer, foundation and powder as you would. I’ve used LancĂ´me today since the weather was sunny (until a bit later it got a bit gloomy). After that apply whichever eyeshadow base/primer you like. It doesn’t matter which one, the purpose is always to keep the eyeshadow colours vibrant and to stop it from creasing. For me it is a must otherwise I’ll have yucky oily looking creased shadow eyes.

I used Bourjois eyeshadows today, so you can probably get them from your local drugstore.

#48 Vert Petillant (green) – is used for the inner half of the lids
#17 Prune Intense (purple) – is for the outer half of the lids
#92 Gris Paillettes (greyish/black) – for outer corners of the lids, I think some people call that the outer V?
#16 Ambre Nude (champagne) – inner corner of eyes to brighten it up and a little bit on the brow bones.

After that I finished it off with;

Maybelline – Unstoppable eyeliner/traceur (Onyx)
Fairy Drops Mascara (purchased in Hong Kong from Sasa Cosmetics)

For my lips I kept it simple, just a simple light pink colour.

Maybelline – Color Sensational #005 Pink Sand
Noir Blanc – Lipgloss brillant levres #B433 (also purchased in Hong Kong from Sasa Cosmetics)

Outfit of the day was simple; it wasn’t exactly warm enough to be wearing summer clothes. With winter finally hitting Australia, the weather is beginning to get chilly and especially at night! No more short skirts or dresses, it’s time to pull out the warm clothes and of course the boots!

Can’t have winter without boots ladies! Trendy and they keep your feet warm and dry from the pouring rain.

Anyway felt like wearing something purple-ish, so I ended up with a simple magenta/purple kind of coloured dress and some lace leggings. Finished it with a simple grey cardigan and a nice gold belt. Of course I didn’t forget the boots, just simple flat heel boots that I bought last year from Target, for a bargain of only $30. Perfect for a shopping trip that is going to require a lot of walking and shoving through crowds.

my sexy lace leggings!

Forgot to take a photo with my bag so here it is, just a simple Gucci. Nothing extravagant, practical, holds a lot and it’s in a way still classy. Love this bag heaps and it’s the perfect colour for winter!

So as I was saying earlier, there wasn’t much I liked at the sales. I’m surprised myself because normally I buy heaps during times like these just to save money so I don’t have to pay more for something the same or similar to it. Instead all I ended up with was a pair of shoes that was only slightly discounted. However I fell in love with them.

Shoes are by Verali.
Style name is Grand
And they’re black satin in colour.

Look at how it blings!

So classy!

Definitely love!
