Savvy by DB and SHE Loose Pigments Swatches and Review

I’m pretty sure you’ve seen that I’ve been buying Savvy’s Loose Mineral Eyeshadow when they go on sale for $2.99. Well with no surprise I picked up another 3 colours to share with you guys.

Swatches as usual…

Savvy by DB Mineral Loose Eyeshadows

With Flash

Without Flash

I’ve have been loving these loose eyeshadows because they’re cheap and good stuff. The pigmentation as the same the ones from before are great and it’s not large chunks but nice soft and smooth texture which is easy to blend. Packaging is as per normal like any other jar that carries pigments and loose powders.

On the other hand I am for the first time using a cosmetic and beauty brand called SHE. I always walk pass the displays in Priceline without much of a glance and because they were on sale I end up buying two of their colourful pigments. The exact name for them is SHE Australia Dusting Powders for those of you who are curious. So yet this is another Australian brand and I’m happy to test something that is local.

Let’s start off with swatches.

SHE Dusting Powders

With Flash

Wihtout Flash

First of all love the packaging and even though it is just a typical jar, I love who it is completely clear. Pigmentation of these dusting powders is lovely and with a base the colours are even more vivid than without. The pigments are quite fine and very smooth and soft when applied to the eyes. However I won’t say that blending them is great. They do blend but with some careful blending work.

These however are more expensive than the Savvy ones even at full price (which I had forgotten because I loose the receipt the minute I get home). Then again the colour range is not huge and the colours are a huge different from the ones that Savvy produces.

So that’s what I thought with a bit of comparison between the two brands.

What do you guys think?

CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Eyeshadow Palettes Swatches and Review

I recently bought 2 of the CoverGirl Eye Enhancers from Priceline and hadn’t swatched or reviewed them yet. So today I’m just here to share with you my experience on them.

Each palette comes with 4 shades of colours and I already own Tropical Fusion from CG and I absolutely love the colours it came with. However I recently bought two and they are Country Woods (215) and Crystal Waters (270) to try out.

Left: Country Woods
Right: Crystal Waters
*Each came with a sponge applicator that I had taken out

Let’s run through a couple of pictures of the swatches I did on my hand with and without a base.  Also a photo of the Estee Lauder Eyeshadow Base that some of you maybe curious of.  I use this one most of the time as a base for swatches unless stated otherwise.

Estee Lauder Eyeshadow Base I use to do swatches with

215 Country Woods

270 Crystal Waters

CG so far had never disappointed me when it comes to their eyeshadows as their pigmentation is lovely with and without the base. The texture is always soft and smooth and not chalky at all. When applied to eyes it glides on easily and is definitely blending friendly.

I love how the packaging is clear as this makes flipping through your eyeshadows easier. Straight away you can see what colours are inside and you don’t have to go through them all to see what shades you have available. This is a product I would buy again and I would definitely want to try some of the other shades too.

If I had to choose which one I prefer then Crystal Waters won, not because their blues but because the difference in shades is a lot greater than that of Country Woods. I find Country Woods lacking in the shades difference so I wouldn’t use just this one palette on it own. I would most likely use one or two colours and then mix it with something else.

Have anyone else tried CG’s Eye Enhancers?

If so it would be lovely if you would share with me in the comment section.

Beauty Style Haul from Priceline, yet another cheap makeup brand

I am back again with a second cheap makeup brand review that I picked up from Priceline. That’s right; I’m hunting around and most of the time at Priceline for cheap affordable makeup to buy. I have to tell you now, this brand is good and I’m not sure if you remember but I bought some false eyelashes from this brand maybe a month or two ago and haven’t tried them yet.

Yet again it was a sale and this time Beauty Style was having a 5 for $10 AUD on their “Petites: range so I went rummaging through the display. There isn’t much in this range and the Priceline I was at didn’t carry much of this range either. However two products caught my eyes, the Luxe Dust and the Glitter Cream Eyeshadow.

Luxe Dust is loose eyeshadow pigments and the packaging is so cute because it’s so small. Each plastic container contains 1.44g/0.05 oz of product in them which is alright for the price of $2.99 each otherwise like me I bought 5 colours that they had at that time for $10 AUD. BARGAIN! And I will tell you why by showing the swatches first!

So what did you guys think on first impression after seeing the swatches with and without a base?

The pigments are very fine and not lumpy or thick like some cheap eyeshadow pigments. The texture of it is silky smooth when applied onto the skin and look at how pigmented they are! I was liking them more as I swatched them on my arm. I can’t believe how well the colours pay off is from this brand. In my mind I instantly thought good value.

Now there were a couple of little things I didn’t like about them and it wasn’t the pigments themselves. It’s to do with the packaging. Sure the plastic bottle is super cute, but they put the name of the colour on the plastic wrapping that you peel off to open. Not very smart I have to say, so little me decided to get some white labels and cut them in half and write the name of the colours on them and then stick it to the bottom of each bottle. Perhaps they should consider putting the name of the shade on the actual bottle itself.

Now the second thing I don’t like is the hole where you deposit the pigments. It’s huge! It’s so hard to pour out small amount of product, because that’s all you need when applying it to your eyes. On my first go I poured out heaps and I was already been very careful. I think it might actually be better if they just didn’t restrict the bottle to such a hole. Maybe leaving the restriction out would be easier to retrieve colour with a brush in stead.

Beside the two things I give these pigments a thumbs up!

The glitter cream eyeshadows are not something very special, but for a price of $2.99 they are well worth the value. These cream eyeshadows are not a part of the “Petites” range so they didn’t have the 5 for $10 special on them. However all year round they’re only $2.99 and they’re very popular. I’m actually missing I think 2 or three colours. These were the only one they had when I was there and there wasn’t many of them. I tested them in the shop first and I thought there were alright so I gave them a shot.

The packaging is lip a lip gloss and even the applicator is like a lip gloss sponge applicator, only the sponge part is longer and flatter. The product actually smells quite pleasant, and it doesn’t have that gross chemical smell that puts people off. Guess that’s a bonus. However I do recommend you to shake the bottle before using it, because I find it applies better and it’s not as wet when applied. Each bottle contains 5g/0.17 oz of product so it’s a pretty decent size.

It’s not lumpy and it’s not hard to blend, however I found the white one (Superstition) doesn’t blend so nicely without a base, so a base makes a different for that one in particular. The others don’t really have much of an affect with or without a base. It felt a bit sticky when it was drying, but I think that’s normal when you’re using cream base eyeshadows. It also doesn’t take forever to dry and when dried it leaves a nice smooth surface, doesn’t even feel like you’re wearing the cream shadow on your skin at all.

I think the pigmentation was pretty good and you only need one dab from the applicator to get good colour pay off. I did realise one thing though and I’m not sure whether it’s odd or not. It dried a tad faster if a base is used for it, and I do recommend a base with it as the colour is a bit more intense since it doesn’t sink into the cracks of the skin and spread.
What do you think of the swatches above?
Do you do think it’s worth the money?
Have anyone else tried these products or any other ones from Beauty Style makeup range?

Savvy by DB Priceline Discounted Makeup Haul

Hello my fellow beauty and makeup lovers :)

Today I’m here to share you some cheap, yet some decent quality makeup from Savvy by DB. It’s one of those cheap affordable makeup lines where beginners and teens can buy without having to put a gigantic hole in their wallets.

Priceline had a sale bin and most of the products in there were from Savvy by DB makeup range. There wasn’t much of a choice in there as most of them were the same stuff. I also couldn’t try them as there was no sample for you to swatch, so that didn’t help much either. They were getting rid of some eyeshadows, the ones with the plastic silver casing instead of the usual brown casing. I think it was a one time thing not too long ago when they changed the colour of the packaging.

Anyway I picked up 4 mono eyeshadows for a discounted price of $2.99, and silly me I actually for got to check the original price of a mono eyeshadow from the Savvy shelves at the back of the shop. I apologise for that, but I doubt it would be over $5 AUD.

Each product contains 3.24g/0.11 oz of product and the colours I picked up are:

Moss – Green
Grape – Purple
Bisque – Brown
Peach – gold/champagne

There was also a blue one, but I saw most of them were shattered in the casing so I didn’t put that in my basket. Anyway here are the swatches with and without a base.

I couldn’t really tell the difference in the photos, but when I looked at my arm closely the base just fills in the cracks in the skin so the shadow appears to be more intense since it isn’t sinking into the skin. I have to say I wasn’t expecting much and they turned out better than I thought they would. In my opinion these four are better than some of the NYX single eyeshadows.

The texture is soft and smooth and it’s not even chalky. It felt so smooth when I applied it on my arm that I was unconsciously nodding my head as I did it. No complaints from me really, they were cheap and the quality was alright.

I also picked up some lip liner pencils for a discounted price of $2.99 (sorry no original price -_-“). Each pencil contains 1.2g/0.04 oz of product and here are the swatches.

These are not very creamy pencils but they’re not horrible, however they only last a couple of hours so it not a wear for the whole day kind of thing. They’re cheap so the expectation is kind of as I expected unlike the eyeshadows.

I got another budget makeup brand review coming up, I think I’m also having fun finding some cheap affordable makeup rather than always buying expensive or high-end products. What do you guys think about this kind of idea?

Mini haul from Priceline

couldn't resist! my new phone. Sony Ericsson X10! i waited a whole week to get this phone.

I’m pretty sure a lot of people now know I never stop buying, it’s a matter of trying to restrain myself and I know that never last very long. Hopefully I will be too busy to be buying anymore stuff for a little while.

However I’m always here to share some new stuff I purchase. This time round may not be the nice expensive stuff, but affordable cosmetics that many uses and are very common. My most recent haul consists of 13 items purchased during a sale at Priceline. That’s right they’re what a lot of people would consider as drugstore products.

I came home with 8 items from Boujoris alone and I can say one thing. I hardly have any of their products. The only one I can think of from the top of my head is a green eyeshadow that I picked up somewhere in the bargain basket. Well these items were all purchased because I think everything was 50% off. There were heaps of people crowding the display of it in Priceline that I had to squeeze in to pick up the random bits. I hate crowds when it comes to testing makeup, so everything was quick and simple. Didn’t want to stay in the crowd too long, who knows maybe I might have picked up more if I did.

First off are 3 of their single eyeshadows and I know for a fact I love their packaging. So cute yet simple and their little applicator is a cutie too even though I never use them. I picked up #17 Prune Intense, #92 Gris Pallettes and #16 Ambre Nude. I’ve changed the ways I do my swatches now, so I hope the way I do them now is more of a use than the way I used to. I do two sets of swatches, one naturally without a base or primer and one with a base or primer. Currently I was using Estee lauder eyeshadow base. I find the base provides another view of how vivid the eyeshadows can show up when applied to the eyes that is primed.

I also picked up a pencil, tho I have to admit I’m not sure how it really works. Effet Smoky #73 Deep green is a gorgeous colour without a doubt (see swatch photo). However is it a liner? It has a brush on the other end supposedly used to give you a smoky effect when you smudge it? I think I’ll have to look it up on how to really use this. I was only planning to use it as a eyeliner, but learning how to smudge and make it looks nice sounds like a good plan for me.

Effect 3D Lip glosses in #61 Rose Acidule and #62 Rose gold was the two colours that appealed to me the most at the time. There were 3 other hands grabbing the glosses while I went for them as well. I was actually quite annoyed that some of the ladies were opening the brand new sale items to test them when visibly there was a tester available only they couldn’t be stuffed waiting for someone else to finish with it. How dirty and rude is that? I had to really grab them quick, the ones that were still sealed. The clean untouched ones were not easy to get a hold of and it is the first time I’ve seen people so rude. No one will buy those opened and used products now; I wonder how much loss they make because of a sale like this. The lip glosses in my point of view were a bit thick, sticky as well but the colours were beautiful. They didn’t really all that bad but didn’t smell very nice either so I don’t’ have a problem with that.

Anyway getting along, I picked up two things in the Clubbing product line of Bourjois. Eye liner in absolute black and mascara volume in absolute black as well. There was no tester for either and so I had to take a risk. Had no clue what the brushes were like and had no idea of the consistency or texture of the products. The liner is all good, the typical liner, but it was definitely very black! However it felt rather wet, so I’m worried it would take longer to dry compared to other liquid liners. The mascara however is the second shock in my most recent purchases. Like last time I was disgusted with the Rimmel 1-2-3 look, this time round is no better! I completely scrunched my face up and I really couldn’t help it at all! The wand was oozing with mascara. A major overload of the product and not something I want to be applying to my lashes. I couldn’t help myself, I did a quick light dab onto my hand and look at how much product was on that wand!

Last Bourjois product was actually a powder brush, well to me it was a kabuki styled brush. Something I needed because I’m supposed to have one but for some odd reasons it decided to disappear. I search high and low and everywhere, but I couldn’t find it so I was a bit upset. Since this one was cheap I thought I just buy one to substitute for now, until I find a better one at a decent price. Very soft bristles and it doesn’t scratch the face so I like using it to powder my face after foundation.

Let’s move on from Bourjois, I’ve done enough review for them for the time being. I bought 2 Australis palettes. Would have bought more if I had the chance but I can’t believe how empty the displays were. People must love this brand because these two were the best ones and they were both the same price. Automatically anyone would think the 4 colours one was more worth it.

Out of the blue is a 3 colour palette and I’m sorry I forgot to do swatches for them. No wonder why I couldn’t find the photo for it. They’re the exact same texture as Choc-a-block, which I did do swatches from. Silky and smooth, is love. Easy to apply and easy to blend. Definitely worth going back for some more.

The last two items I bought was just two brushes by Manicare, from their Artiste Professional collection. They weren’t on sales, I don’t think they ever are and I think it was because no one was crowding around them so I ended up there. #17 stippling brush is really soft, but not very dense so I’m not sure how well it’ll work out. #19 Contour brushes, which is very dense yet the bristle are very soft as well. They did have a smell to it and I think it just the chemical smell so I washed them when I got back home. Now they are disinfected and smell beautiful ready for me to use.

Well that’s the end of the mini haul, hope you guys enjoyed it and hope it helped.
